A new type of PayPal text message scam is targeting smartphone users with a text message falsely warning that you've sent money to an unknown recipient. If no card is linked to your Paypal account, nothing will be sent. You do not need a person’s PayPal account number in order to send funds. At this point in time, PayPal uses the recipient’s email address or phone number in order to route payments. Although this scam uses a fake email to steal PayPal login, it is indeed a fact that twice in the past scammers used government emails for similar scams.
